ABO Lodge, CT Ranch House & Activities

ABO Lodge and CT Ranch House are located on Cross Triangle Ranch, a working cattle and sheep ranch, in Big Timber, MT. We offer affordable, comfortable lodging from which to base your explorations in Big Sky Country. Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters headquarters is also located on the ranch and offers lodge and house guests a variety of fun activities to fill their days. Activities include horseback rides, fishing, floats on the Yellowstone river and ATV tours on our working cattle and sheep ranch. If you want to help feed the sheep or move a few cows, we can always use an extra hand. Helicopter rides to access a day in the mountains are also available. You choose, we provide the experience. Families welcomed!

ABO Lodge

Our Lodge provides comfortable rooms with vistas of the Crazy Mountains, green grasslands for horse and cattle grazing and a pond. There are five rooms in the lodge, two of the rooms have queen beds & one extra-long twin, two rooms have two extra-long twin beds and one room has one queen bed.  The rooms share two full baths with another full bath in the main lodge. There is a washer and dryer conveniently located near the rooms for guests. A microwave and refrigerator are available for guest use in the main lodge. The main lodge is a large open concept room with a sitting and TV area, dining area and kitchen. The main lodge kitchen is not available for guests to cook but a cook is available upon request for an extra charge.

Lodge Room Cost:  $75 per room/per night – 2 people per room (some rooms will sleep 3 people- 3rd person additional $15 per night.

Cross Triangle Ranch

Another lodging option we offer, is a 1500 sq. ft. ranch house next door to the lodge. It has 4 bedrooms, a full kitchen with open concept living and dining areas, two full baths, washer & dryer and a deck with a great view of the Crazy Mountains. The house is furnished, sleeps up to 7 people and has a fully equipped kitchen.

Ranch House Cost:  $250 per night – minimum 2 nights
Weekly rental – $1650 -Friday -Thursday

Check in time is 4:00 pm
Check out time is 10:00 am

ATV Tours on working ranch

  • $35 per hour/minimum 2 people
  • 1 or 2 hour tours (available to lodge & ranch house guests only)

Float trips on the Yellowstone

  • $75.00 per person/minimum 2 people 2-hour trips (available to lodge & ranch house guests only)

Walk & Wade Fishing- Guided

  • One or Two Anglers: $450/day (includes lunch)
  • Three Anglers:  $550/day (includes lunch)

Sweet Grass County Ranch Tours

  • $35 per hour/minimum 2 people
    2-hour tours (available to lodge & ranch house guests only)

2-Hour Horseback Rides

  • $75.00 per person
  • Custom rides available
  • Riding lessons available upon request
  • Horse rides available year-round, weather permitting 

Helicopter Trips

This trip is for the person that wants a day trip to the mountains. Rocky Mountain Rotors can fly you in and fly you out.  We will be there to meet you as you step out of the Heli and show you some country from horseback or ATV few get to experience.

Cost:  $350 per day plus helicopter cost

Lodge, ranch horse and all activities require a reservation.

Deposit Policy

Reservations are required to guarantee your room and any activities in which you may want to participate. To book a reservation, we require a credit card number. Your deposit is fully refundable if you cancel at least 48 hours before your trip. We won’t charge your card until your scheduled arrival time. Please remember, you must call in time to cancel or change your reservation or we will charge your card for the deposit.

From Bozeman take Interstate 90 to Big Timber. Take the 1st
Big Timber Exit and go left under I 90 to the light. *

From Billings take I 90 to Big Timber. Take the 2nd Big Timber
Exit and go right to the light. *

*At the light turn left on the frontage road. You will be heading west. Go approximately one mile. Turn right at the white mailbox. Cross the railroad tracks and follow the road to the ranch.
