ABO Lodge, Cabins, Western Cottage Activities

ABO Lodge, Cabins and Western Cottage are located on Cross Triangle Ranch, a working cattle and sheep ranch, in Big Timber, MT. We offer comfortable affordable lodging from which to base your explorations in Big Sky Country. Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters headquarters is also located on the ranch and offers lodge, cabin and cottage guests a variety of fun activities to fill their days. Activities include horseback rides, fishing, floats on the Yellowstone River and ATV tours on our working cattle and sheep ranch. If you want to help feed the sheep or move a few cows, we can always use an extra hand. The extra hand is not always available due to the changing ranch schedule. Helicopter rides to access a day in the mountains are also available. You choose, we provide the experience. Families welcomed!

ABO Lodge

Our Lodge provides comfortable rooms with vistas of the Crazy Mountains, green grasslands for horse and cattle grazing and a pond. There are five rooms in the lodge, two of the rooms have a queen bed & an extra-long twin bed in each room, two rooms have two extra-long twin beds in each room and one room has one queen bed. The rooms share two full baths with another full bath in the main lodge. There is a washer and dryer conveniently located near the rooms for guests. A microwave and refrigerator are available for guest use in the main lodge. The main lodge is a large open concept room with a sitting and TV area, dining area and kitchen.

The main lodge kitchen is not available for guests to cook but a cook is available upon request for an extra charge.

Cabins

ABO offers guests looking for a rustic cabin experience two dry cabins, meaning no running water and no bathrooms in the cabins. Each cabin sleeps up to 4 people. Both cabins have full size refrigerators with tables and chairs for eating. One cabin has a queen bed and a twin bed on the main floor and another twin bed in the loft. The other cabin has two twin beds on the main floor and a queen bed in the loft. There are bathrooms in the ABO Lodge for cabin guests that are only a short distance from the cabins.

The Western Cottage

Another lodging option ABO offers is a 900 sq. ft. cottage near the lodge. It has 2 bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen with open concept living and dining areas, a full bath, and a patio with a fire pit. A washer & dryer are available for guest use and located at the ABO Lodge. The cottage is comfortably furnished, sleeps up to 5 people with extra-long twin beds in one bedroom and a queen-size bed in the other bedroom. An additional twin bed can be added for a 5th person. This cozy but roomy cottage is private but conveniently located near the Absaroka-Beartooth Lodge and has a spectacular view of the Crazy Mountains.

Activities

2-Hour Horseback Rides

Float trips on the Yellowstone

  • 2-hour trips (available to lodge, cabin & cottage guests only)

ATV Tours on working ranch

Saddle & Paddle

  • 2 person minimum
  • Includes 2-hour morning ride & 2 hour early afternoon float trip, providing time for lunch on your own in Big Timber between ride and raft.

Walk & Wade Fishing- Guided

  • Full-day: 1-2 anglers per guide (includes lunch)
  • Half-day: 1-2 anglers per guide (lunch not included)

Helicopter Trips

This trip is for the person that wants a day trip to the mountains. Rocky Mountain Rotors can fly you in and fly you out.  We will be there to meet you as you step out of the Heli and show you some country from horseback or ATV few get to experience.

Deposit Policy

Reservations are required to guarantee your room and any activities in which you may want to participate. To book a reservation, we require a credit card number. Your deposit is fully refundable if you cancel at least 48 hours before your trip. We won’t charge your card until your scheduled arrival time. Please remember, you must call in time to cancel or change your reservation or we will charge your card for the deposit.

From Bozeman take Interstate 90 to Big Timber. Take the 1st
Big Timber Exit and go left under I 90 to the light. *

From Billings take I 90 to Big Timber. Take the 2nd Big Timber
Exit and go right to the light. *

*At the light turn left on the frontage road. You will be heading west. Go approximately one mile. Turn right at the first place you can cross the railroad tracks. Cross the railroad tracks and follow the ranch road to the brown barn
