Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters (ABO) is a premier outdoor adventure company offering unparalleled experiences in the rugged beauty of Montana’s Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. With over 30 years of expertise, we specialize in guided big game hunts, world-class fly fishing, horseback expeditions, and immersive wilderness excursions.

Our guided hunts provide access to some of Montana’s most pristine and game-rich landscapes, targeting species such as elk, deer, mountain goat, black bear, antelope, bighorn sheep, moose, wolf, turkey and waterfowl. We operate in both remote wilderness areas and exclusive private ranches, ensuring a truly authentic and rewarding hunting experience.

For anglers, ABO offers exceptional fly-fishing opportunities in crystal-clear mountain streams, alpine lakes, and private ranch creeks. Hellroaring

Hellroaring is located in a beautiful meadow 8 miles north of Yellowstone National Park. It is accessed by a 12-mile horseback ride south from Independence. In the summer, Hellroaring serves as base camp for our wilderness fly-fishing and pack trips. In the fall, Hellroaring is base camp for early rifle season elk and deer, mountain goat, black bear, and moose hunting.

Buffalo Fork

Buffalo Fork is located on the banks of Buffalo Fork Creek at the head of a large meadow north of Yellowstone National Park. The camp is a good choice for smaller groups looking for shorter rides. It is an excellent adventure and hunting camp but not as good a fishing camp as Hellroaring.

Independence

Independence is located at the head of the Boulder River, 50 miles south of Big Timber. It is accessed by 4X4 vehicles and hunted with horses. Independence is base camp for archery, general rifle season elk and deer, Bighorn sheep, mountain goat and black bear hunting.

All three camps have comfortable accommodations consisting of roomy, carpeted wall tents with wood stoves, cots with foam pads, a hot shower (Hellroaring only), a roaring campfire, and first class meals prepared by our cook.

Private Land Adventures

Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters compliments its wilderness adventures with the opportunity for hunters, anglers, and horseback riders to experience unique private land venues. These ranches provide thousands of acres for prime hunting, meandering ranch fishing creeks, miles of river frontage for fishing the Yellowstone and Boulder Rivers, and horseback trails through the ranch landscapes and along the river banks.

FOR THE PRIVATE LAND HUNTER

For the private land hunter, Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitter has access to thousands of acres of carefully selected private ranch land for hunting elk, deer, antelope, spring black bear, turkey, duck and geese.
